What
is your role at ILM at present
I am an Art Director .
Favorite project
that you have worked on since speaking at SP
War of the Worlds in 2005. It was a great experience working
with Dennis Muren and Steven Spielberg. At the time it felt
like I was taking part in a big, fun movie. Steven is a fan
of ILM's work and that positive spirit really rubbed off
on the crew. It was a very tough schedule, but I had a great
time working on it.
Later that year I worked on Jarhead followed by another Spielberg
project called Munich. In that film one of my jobs was to
paint the World Trade Center back into the New York skyline.
How has your personal
illustration been going?
Going really well. I haven't been doing as much as I would
like, but I have gotten to do some fun book covers over the
last 2 years. I am currently trying to finish up my own graphic
novel. I would like to make some time for my personal work
it in the near future.
What projects has
ILM been working on recently, and into the future?
ILM has just finished up with Pirates of the Caribbean: At
Worlds End, Transformers and work on Harry Potter: Order of
the Phoenix. Myself, I am currently working on a film called
The Spiderwick Chronicles and just now starting on the next
Indiana Jones Installment.
Best 'cool' story
about something that has happened at work?
Back in the Spiring of 2005 we were all working very hard on
War of the Worlds and we had made a lot of progress over the
weekend with a couple of key shots on the film. The following
Monday we showed the shots in a transmission to Steven. He
was very impressed by how far we had come. Steven knew that
we had been working tirelessly over the weekend and said something
like "I hope you guys are being fed well". Two days
later dozens of Deep Dish Pizzas were flown in directly from
Chicago and served to us by a professional catering crew as
a surprise gift from Steven. It was such a classy thing to
do. |
