Holly Melancholy and the Night that Saved the Day
"Did you know for instance that the common daisy is descended from a blood sucking vampire flower? Or that deer and foxes were once one animal, constantly arguing whether to eat grass or rabbits? Or how a young girl named Holly Melancholy saved the world from the evil sun Ezekiel and her flame ladies..."
Auckland based artist Misery, once again takes you into the depths of her innocently, twisted imagination. Using mixed media to unfold her new world, Misery illustrates the magical tale "Holly Melancholy and the Night that saved the Day". Journey into Misery's world and meet 'Holly Melancholy', and whimsical characters, including a depressed hero, an evil sun, an obnoxious al paca and more magical doe eyed creatures. Walk through the garden of plush vampire flowers, and beware of the wall of severed heads...
Misery, renowned for her graffiti and street art, has gone onto mainstream success,
holding successful exhibitions around the world including Berlin, Taiwan, Melbourne, Paris and Los Angeles. Her latest works to be exhibited at Webbs Gallery, 14 - 22 August, 2008. Poet/Author Tourettes has worked alongside Misery, delving into the depths of her imagination to create the fairy tale 'Holly Melancholy and the Night that Saved the Day'
