Following a BA in Graphic Design at Kingston University in 2001, Meirion veered into magazines and worked at Redwood publishing and on Harvey Nichols magazine. Sporadic stints followed on Richardson magazine in New York where he became the European Editor. In 2003, having honed his design and partying skills, Meirion joined Wallpaper* and Tony Chambers’ team who were tasked with the magazine’s re-design.
In 2007 Meirion became Art Director of Wallpaper* implementing his own redesign. He continued to experiment and push the boundaries of print and digital, ensuring the Wallpaper* brand remained an international authority on design, winning numerous awards along the way, which was nice!
September 2012, Meirion decided to take up the challenges of working in advertising and of living in New York City. Joining Creative Director Doug Lloyd’s agency, Lloyd&Co as Senior Art Director specializing in fashion, beauty and luxury branding.
At Lloyd&Co Meirion was tasked with working with with a diverse set of clients such as The Row, Samsung, Adidas: Stan Smith, and Nine West. He worked with these clients to produce print and digital advertising, brand books, logos and bespoke typefaces.
March 2013, Meirion is asked to lead the Bottega Veneta team at Lloyd&Co. Working closely with Doug Lloyd and Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier helping to concept, design and produce all the brands visual output across print, motion, digital and events worldwide. This would also entail frequent trips to Italy and the brands HQ in Milan to direct and produce the runway shows during the Men’s and Women’s fashion weeks not to mention it’s respective campaigns, shooting with a diverse range of art photographers such as Araki Nobuyoshi, Juergen Teller, Vivian Sassen and Pieter Hugo to name a few.
Recently Meirion decided to change this up again and ’go West’, to join Nike’s Global Brand Design Team as Design Director of Football. Watch this space…
