Going International / Staying local

Going International / Staying local

It's a series of decisions that can be made at any time, but have huge impact on the future. This session will take us into a discussion between collaborators and friends Kelvin Ho, David Caon and Henry Wilson to talk identifying and seizing that moment to either head international, return back to your shores or combine all resources we have at our disposal in this modern day.

Kelvin Ho, Founder and Architect of Akin Creative is in the process of expanding his business into Asia and the United States, with a new office in NYC being planned. His clients include Saturdays NYC, Sass and Bide, Bassike, Dion Lee, the Australian Ballet and more. He rarely updates his website and might be the tallest person you have ever met.

David Caon, Founder of Caon Design in our opinion is the modern day Marc Newson, which is fitting considering they worked together in Paris for years. Caon today is in the process of redesigning the majority of Qantas' airport lounges as well as the interiors of all their new planes. Caon  is a lover of vintage cars, in particular, Alfa Romeo.

Henry Wilson, is quickly becoming one of Australias premier designers for interiors, products and furniture, having created the well awarded A-Joint, which is holding up every desk in the Semi Permanent office (and next door at Frost* and Present Company too). Henry designed the Lexus pavilion at last year's Melbourne Cup with Joost Bakker and Emilie Delalande.

This session with Kelvin, David and Henry will be hosted by ideas curator Janne Ryan.
